The first China Urban Public Transport Day and the third ‘5.20 Day of Care for Bus Drivers’, organized by Zhenjiang Public Transport Co., Ltd. and co-organized by China Civil Engineering Society, Zhenjiang local government, Zhenjiang Police Station, Zhenjiang Public Transportation Department and so on, successfully commenced on May 20th, 2019 at South Mountain Park, Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Understanding and Respect, Let’s Care for Bus Drivers Together’. In the meanwhile, more than 60 Public Transport Companies nationwide jointly organized their version of '5.20 Day of Care for Bus Drivers' in local areas. The event started at 9:30 am on the day. The opening ceremony was hosted by Vice-Secretary Mr Jia Chen.The Deputy Mayor of Zhenjiang announced the commencement of the event!
Onsite of the event, Zhenjiang citizens expressed their appreciation towards bus drivers. Prizes such as Most Hardworking Bus Driver, Most Helpful Bus Driver, Most Courageous Bus Driver and Kindest Bus Driver were announced and presented. Bus company employees from different departments performed during the event as well. In the afternoon, Zhenjiang Public Transport Company also organised a group trip with 30 Bus Drivers and their families to the nearest national park.
Party Committee Secretary of Zhenjiang Public Transport Mr Ding Feng said that in the recent years, Zhenjiang has started the campaign of 'Public Transport First', fastened its steps in modernization, endeavored to build the city with strong public transportation system. Zhenjiang is the birthplace of ‘5.20 Day of Care for Bus Drivers’. This event has had its nationwide influence and has had increased impact in the last three years. ‘5.20 Day of Care for Bus Drivers’ helps to close the gap between passengers and bus drivers, and it provides an opportunity to let people know more about bus drivers.
China International Bus Expo 2019 is organised by China Civil Engineering Society and co-organised by major public transport companies in China. It will commence on 11th-13th, December 2019 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
